Korina Sanchez beat me up, says maid
BAD news for ABS-CBN newscaster and radio talk show host Korina Sanchez. A housemaid on Sunday accused Sanchez and her reported boyfriend of beating her up when she told them she wanted to leave.
Bernardita Inocencio, 42, accused Sanchez and her supposed boyfriend, Pol Aquino, in a two-page complaint she filed with the Makati City police.
Inocencio said Sanchez hit her in the face with a slipper and Aquino also hit her and slammed her on the floor. She said she suffered two lumps on the head and a swollen left elbow.
The maid said the beating came after she told Sanchez and Aquino she was planning to leave Sanchez's employ.
Inocencio said Sanchez and Aquino insulted, humiliated and threw her out of Aquino's unit at the Bel-Air Condominium on P. Burgos Street in Poblacion, Makati last Friday.
The maid said she worked for Sanchez in the latter's unit at the Emerald Mansions in Pasig City for more than two months. She told police she wanted to leave since she "could no longer endure" the way Sanchez was treating her.
She said her broadcaster employer would often shout at her and would poke her head with a finger to emphasize an insult.
Inocencio said her monthly salary of 3,500 pesos was often delayed for about 10 days.
She told Sanchez and Aquino about her plan to leave and then she asked for her full salary for the month.
Inocencio said Sanchez got enraged and threw a slipper at her. She was hit in the right cheek, she said.
She said Sanchez was about to throw a cheesecake at her but Aquino restrained the broadcaster.
The maid said Sanchez then phoned Inocencio's agency and informed its secretary that Inocencio was planning to leave and that she would just pay her salary the following week.
Inocencio said her agency advised her not to leave Sanchez yet. But a fuming Aquino forced her to leave, the maid said.
She said that when she asked for money, Aquino shouted at her and cursed her.
She said she turned to Sanchez but the latter shouted at her, "Put@ng ina mo, ang kulit mo!" while poking a middle finger at the maid's head.
Inocencio said Aquino then hit her in the head, grabbed her by the shoulder and slammed her on the floor.
Inocencio said in her complaint that she urinated in her pants out of fear.
She said Aquino grabbed her again and threw her out of the Bel-Air condo unit.

A combative Korina Sanchez reportedly wrote an open letter to Valenzuela councilor Shalani Soledad, the girlfriend of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, to clarify certain issues involving the two of them.
The open letter, now circulating on the Internet, is the second one Sanchez wrote since her fiancé Sen. Mar Roxas II renounced his presidential ambitions to give way to Aquino, who has expressed his intention to run for president under the Liberal Party. The two formally announced the Aquino-Roxas tandem at Club Filipino yesterday.
Previously, the ABS-CBN newscaster had written a strongly-worded letter to ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz reacting to some negative statements he had purportedly made against her on his Facebook page.
In her letter to Soledad, a copy of which was sent anonymously to Good Times Manila, Sanchez denied “nasty” reports that she was heartbroken over losing her prospects as the next First Lady.
She also accused Aquino’s girlfriend of ignoring an invitation to be her Facebook friend.
The open letter is reproduced in full below:
Well, well, well, you must be pretty pleased with yourself, Shahani Solidad [sic]. You are one step closer to becoming First Lady. Congratulations. Clap. Clap. Clap.
Contrary to what some nasty people have been saying about me (please refer to my other open letter to RG Cruz), allow me to make it very clear that I am NOT desperate to become First Lady. I do NOT care about that title at all. You are more than free to go for it. I will NOT stop you.
Besides, I did not become a multi-awarded broadcast journalist for nothing with so many awards to my name, including a Silver World Medal for Investigative Report at the New York Festivals, which also gave me and my show Rated K a finalist certificate as Best News Reporter and Best News Magazine, respectively. Imagine that. An award from New York. It’s nothing really, just part of my job.
I am sure that as an aspiring First Lady, you have some achievements of your own as a barangay kagawad – oh, I’m sorry – I mean, as a “councilor” in that swampy place Navotas [should be Valenzuela -Ed.]. I am sure you are very proud of yourself.
